Standard Cable Set (included with the Jaltest CV Kit) connect to most Class 3–8 commercial vehicles with the bundled leads: 9-pin (Deutsch J1939/J1708), 6-pin (J1708), 16-pin OBD-II, and multi-pin. For the vast majority of trucks, buses, vans, and pickups, no extra cables are required.
When you might need extras (trailers & specialty systems)
Trailer diagnostics and refrigeration units are the most common add-ons:
- JDC40AM2 – PLC Power Supply Adapter Cable (J2497): ensures reliable communication and power for trailer ABS/PLC diagnostics.
- JDC115A – Carrier Diagnostics Cable: connects to Carrier refrigeration (reefer) units for service and troubleshooting.

Q: What brands will this work on?
The Jaltest On-Highway & Commercial Vehicle Diagnostic Kit delivers true multi-brand truck diagnostics, covering 119+ brands and 4,000+ models across Class 3–8 trucks, trailers, buses, vans, and pickups. In practice, that means dealer-level coverage for popular OEMs like Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, Volvo, International, Western Star, Hino, Isuzu, Ford, GM/Chevrolet/GMC, Ram, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, plus trailer platforms and terminal tractors. Component coverage is equally broad, including engines such as Cummins, PACCAR, Detroit, Volvo/Mack, and Navistar, transmissions like Allison, Eaton/Fuller, and ZF, and brake/ABS and stability systems from Bendix, WABCO (ZF), and Meritor. Q: Do I need internet access to use the software?
95% of the software including technical information and wiring diagrams can be used offline and on your computer. The internet is required for troubleshooting information, software updates and remote sessions with support.
Q: Can I use this with my own laptop?
Yes! This version is designed to install on your own Windows laptop. Minimum specs: Windows 10 and 8GB ram. The better the laptop is equipped the better it will work
Q: Can I use this on more than one machine?
Licensing is per Jaltest. You can install the software on up to 3 computers at a time. However, you need the device to connect to equipment. Therefore you can share the device, but can not work on 3 machines at the same time.
Q: Can I add more cables later?
Yes — we offer additional brand-specific or machine-specific cables that plug into your existing Jaltest Link.
Q: Can it perform regens, injector coding, and calibrations?
Absolutely. Jaltest offers advanced features like DPF regens, injector coding, joystick and pump calibrations, cylinder cutouts, and more.
Q: Is there a required annual fee?
After one year you will still have all the functionality of the software to diagnose, calibrate, check parameters etc. If you chose to not renew the Jaltest license you would lose access to our technical information, technical support, and the 3 major software updates. Q: Is it hard to install?
We make it easy. Your kit includes install instructions, and our tech team can walk you through it remotely if needed.
Q: How long does setup take?
Most users are up and running in less than 1 hour from unboxing.
Q: What operating systems are supported?
Jaltest runs on Windows 10 and 11. It is not compatible with Mac OS unless you use Parallels.

Q: How often is the software updated?
Jaltest releases 3 major updates per year, adding new systems, models, and functions with each release.
Q: Does this kit include wiring diagrams and repair guides?
Yes — Jaltest CV includes interactive wiring diagrams, component information and troubleshooting for many faults. This information continues to increase during the 3 major updates a year.
Q: Is training included?
The software is extremely easy to use and most customers are full speed ahead from the start. Initial one on one virtual training is included. In addition unlimited passes to weekly group training sessions from Jaltest specialists are included. In person training and one on one training is available for a fee.
Diagnostic kits are able to ship the same day if ordered by 2pm EDT. Rush shipments are available and can arrive around north america in 24-48 hours. Standard shipping is 3-5 days globally.

If you already have a service laptop with minimium windows 10, 8GB of ram and 40GB of harddrive space we will install Jaltest for you on your device.
If you are looking for a rugged service laptop we have many options for you.
Certified Refurbished
We don't just clean them up, we fully inspect, rebuild and certify our refurbished laptops with a 98 step process. These certified refurbished laptops come with a 12 month warranty
The majority of our customers prefer the 5ft drop radius and value of the refurbished Panasonic CF31, but we have refurbished options for tablets and semi rugged laptops as well. CF31's can only run up to Windows 10 so if Windows 11 is required for security or to run your business consider a Certified refurbished FZ55 ,for $650 more
